3 New Year’s Resolutions We Should All Make

A new year is almost upon us. It’s a time to look back and reflect and look forward with optimistic lenses in the hopes of making this next year better than the last.

While you may have already decided on your New Year’s resolution, I have three more that you should definitely consider adding to the list.

1. Healthier Living

Now I’m not talking about losing 10 pounds or going to the gym every day. I’m talking about a healthier approach to nutrition in general because you wouldn’t believe what a difference cutting out toxic foods can make. Everyone could use a little detox after the holidays so it’s the perfect time to reboot your system. I recommend cutting out wheat (or gluten if you’re feeling ambitious), dairy, and preservatives for at least a week.

What changes will you see? Well your stomach will flatten out, your skin will be luminous, you’ll feel energized and clear headed and you will most definitely lose a couple of pounds of residual water weight. I know it sounds scary, but load up on fruits, veggies, grains, nuts and lean protein, they’ll fill you up and leave you feeling like you can conquer the world. You may find it works so well that you eliminate gluten from your diet for good like me!

2. Weed out the bad

I’m realizing more and more how important it is to weed out negative forces from your life. We should all surround ourselves with people who lift us up and bring out the best in us. In addition to a body-detox, I think we should all commit to a negativity- detox and release all the weight that’s bringing us down. This could mean toxic friends, a job you hate, negative thoughts about yourself and your life, regrets, or anything really. If it paints a dark cloud around your livelihood and causes you any sort of pain or anguish, it has no place in your life, to release the bad and clear up some space for the good.

3. More me time

It is way too easy to get lost in the shuffle of every day life. Work, school, errands, bills, obligations- there is so much jamming up our days leaving us with little or no precious ‘Me’ time. From now on, try to set aside a bit of time for yourself, even if it’s only 10 minutes. You can use this time to meditate or take a long walk, whatever it soothing and calming for you. It’s pretty amazing the things you discover about yourself when you just spend a little quality time with YOU.

Will you be following any of these resolutions? Got some others to add to the list? Tell us about it in comments!
