Summer is a glorious time. The sun is shining, trees are blooming and perpetual cold weather-induced frowns slowly make the climb to blissful smile. However, it’s also a million degrees and feeling sexy and beautiful when you’re sweaty and sticky and icky can be near impossible!
Fear not. You can stay cool and look hot even in the face of the most sweltering conditions. Just follow these top tricks of the trade.
Lighten Up
To stay cool, keep your clothing light, both in color and fabric. Looser silhouettes and natural fabrics like cotton allow air to circulate all over your body and make it easier for all that sweat to evaporate– better in the sky than dripping down your body, right?
And don’t forget about the underpinnings! Ditch the cotton in this case, it’s too heavy. Instead, stock up on sheer lace panties (especially thongs and g-string styles): they’re invisible under clothing and breathable if you know what I mean.
Baby Powder (or Corn Starch)
Baby powder can literally be used from head-to-toe to keep you fresh and dry. Run it through your hair to strip away any grease and buildup; apply it to your t-zone to absorb excess oil; use it under your arms to stop sweating in a way no deodorant can, on your feet to keep them fresh and dry (and your shoes odor-free!), under the edges of your bra to prevent irritation and anywhere else your heart desires. Leave no stone unturned and no body part un-powdered!
Tiger Balm
Place a dab of Tiger Balm on the inside of your wrists and the backs of your knees. The menthol and eucalyptus provides a cooling effect so it’ll be a little like walking around with your own built-in air conditioning system! (Be sure to test for skin sensitivity and be sure wash your hands after applying!) For an all-natural alternative – try peppermint essential oil, it’s refreshing and invigorating!
Waterproof Everything!
Summer is a time for minimal makeup. There’s no point in putting a lot on since it’s just gonna sweat right off anyway! These days, you can get waterproof anything: mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow, foundation, whatever it is that your pretty face desires or requires!
