Even though it’s summer, we’re still spending some time indoors (Heat wave! Thunderstorm!) and that means candles are just as in-style as Havaianas. As a candle aficionado, here are some picks for the best of the season.
Check them out after the jump!
Go “Gossip Girl” with Henri Bendel’s Signature candle. With divine yet subtle scents like classic “Vanilla Bean” and “Gardenia,” these 10 oz candles instantly transform a room. Burn “Banana Flower” and “Coconut Leaves” together for a tropical affair –lasting 60-hours, it’s the ideal in-home getaway.
Henri Bendel Signature Candle, $30
With more than 30 years of candle making experience, Yankee Candle is down-home American comfort in a sleek glass jar. Aromas fill the room and burn time exceeds most candles in the same price range. From winter scents like “Spiced Pumpkin” to summertime waifs of “Beach Vacation,” you can choose the perfect accent for any season. Go with my current fave “Berry Tangerine.”
Yankee Candle in Berry Tangerine, $21.
I first discovered Tyler Candles at a specialty shop in Grass Valley, California, and still can’t get enough – the petite 3.4 oz jar candles burn 25 hours and take up hardly any space in the house. The scent, however, does proliferate the room. And with fruity “Mango Tango,” spicy “Ecalyptus” and the crowd-pleaser “Panache,” your first handmade Tyler candle won’t be your last. $6,
Tyler Candle in Panache, $6.
“Caramel” may seem like an autumn and winter scent, but with Archipelago’ soy candle, the yummy aroma is welcome year-round. Hand-poured, the candles from the botanical company are 70 percent natural soy wax, meaning they burn longer (90 hours!) and cleaner. And definitely check out the travel tin candles – it’s the best way to take “Madagascar” with you.
Archipelago Caramel Soy Candle, $29.50.
The fragrance is divine, so when Allure named Prada’s Infusion d’Iris candle “Best of Beauty: Best Candle,” I knew it was stellar. The crisp floral and linen scent is ideal for the home – the precious ingredient, Iris Pallida, from Florence offers a lightness to the top note of Sicilian mandarin. Just as the perfume envelops the body with a traditional yet modern aroma, the candle gives any room a sensual and contemporary aura well worth the price.
Prada Infusion D’Iris Perfumed Candle, $78
Most anticipated candle launch? Salvatore Ferragamo’s Tuscan Home Collection. Handcrafted and finished with a signature leather lacing and metal seal, the dripless wax and pure cotton wicks are just part of the charm of the Italian scented candle. I just have to wait until September for this one.
