Anyone tempted to send new years text to ex

my ex broke up with me in August. In November he asked me to get back together but i was still hurt and devasated and for both’s shake i said no. but i want to be firends with him sometime. we were together six years we were supposed to get married. so, after that he doesn’t talk to me, or he is really cold and formal. i texted him wishing him a haappy new year, asking how is he doing etc. i wanted to, he is the love of my life, no matter what, and he just answered
“thanks.happy new year”. he is the most sociable person i ever new, he would never wish to anybody like that, hew was funny. kind etc. i am really hurt because it seems he doesn’t want me in his life in anyway. and he was the one who dumped me. how much does it cost him to answer in a cool and polite way? to ask me that spent six years of their lives how am i doing and wish for the best?
