Confused

I made a decision to let a man back into my life. 7 years ago he was my friend with benefits. Of course over time i started falling for this guy. I told i wanted to date him but he kept saying it was not the right time. I tried dating other men and it did not work. He then met a woman and cut things off with me because he wanted to date her. I cut him out of my life. Recently, I reached out to see how he was. He immediately wanted to see me. He came over and it felt like old times. He told me he felt bad about the way things ended between us and that it was almost love for him. It was amazing being with him. I dont want to be friends with benefits this time and get hurt again.

Any advice? Should I tell him i want to date him or just stay friends?

If he isnt making any moves to date you or state he wants more, i would do nothing, not even trying to be friends. Because you are already falling for him again. Its nice you had a good time, but back then he couldnt date you, but he was perfectly ready to date someone else. And now he is saying it was almost love. What does that get you? Nothing im afraid.
