Annie, do you really want to be in a relationship that makes you feel frustrated? I would bail while it is easy and when your not so invested.
Maybe I don’t love him, if I do, then I should be able to accept his traits.
This guy probably has Asperger’s Syndrome. He’s not disabled, but they are often mind blind to affection and initiating contact. I date a woman and I’m 99.9% sure she has this. Everybody on the spectrum is different so it’s almost impossible to make generalized comments about them, but in my case, my GF doesn’t really speak any of the 5 Love Languages (google that). It’s frustrating because I do them all. Why do I stay with her? Because we are such great friends and she accepts just enough affection from me to keep us together. She’s also very honest, loyal and unpretentious. I like those qualities. It’s tough.
Why be with someone who makes you miserable?
I thought he was on the spectrum after your initial post.
“if he has autism I can’t dump him” – Duh?! is he your relative, son, brother, uncle, adopted child, someone you love? what are your obligations to him. He is a stranger, some dude you came across. He will eventually find a woman, perhaps also on the spectrum, who’d be perfectly ok with his ways. You need to think of you first.
