Hi Everyone,
SO I’m recently engaged, and have decided to do some research on an antidepressant my fiance is on. He was on this medication before he met me, and says he’s on the generic version, and on the lowest dose. While I never thought twice about it, I’m starting to notice patterns in his mood, remembering things he did in the beginning and how that coul’dve been from the medication. He only has sex once a night, if that, when I know he’s very sexual, and he has mood changes more frequently than before.
Id like to understand him, and be understanding of his situation. I just need guidance and was wondering if anyone has some info?LnJLexapro is for anxiety-related symptoms, right?
If you’ve noticed changes in his mood, it’s possible that he’s going through a cycle where his anxiety issues are stronger than usual. Even if he is able to work through the anxiety rationally, it can still put a strain on his emotional state.
This is all just guesswork though. It’s entirely possible that changes in mood are unrelated to the medication. It’s worth discussing it with him, as long as you feel like you can approach it in a way that’s not confrontational or accusing.
Also, I don’t want to be snarky… but you say he is “only” having sex once a night? Is that what you meant to say? I think many people would consider sexual activity once a night, or even several times a week, to be “a lot”!
But really, I think you are trying to say that you’ve noticed less sexual activity than you used to have. It’s true that Lexapro can suppress libido, but honestly in my experience it didn’t suppress it a lot. if he’s been on it a long time, I’m not sure if that’s a factor anyway. But, if it’s a flare-up of anxiety, that could be dampening his mood.
RavenHave you talked with him about this?

If the OP had Googled before posting her query, she may have found the information she was seeking…
