Funny I’m in a similar situation online dating. Guy supposedly is divorced and has sworn up an down he is legit. He’s even gone as far as to make future plans with me. Told me he’s off all dating apps and so on..
Last week he told me last minute that he is going to this work retreat which turns out according to him to be mandatory, a retreat to which he had invited me on on our first date but I said too soon to know if I can.. plus let’s get to know each other better.
Fast forward we’re talking late and he’s like I wish you were here sucks I’ll be away for 7 days then his phone is off no calls or texts since not even a btw I’ll have my phone off . 5 days later no contact and I’m like meh . I’m hot headed naturally so could give him a piece of my mind but I’m thinking do I really care..?MaddieYou should start your own thread, but I’d leave it alone. He’ll either reach out when he’s back, or not. Don’t automatically assume the worst about people: he may have not realized he doesn’t have reception there. However, don’t make excuses or ignore your instincts either because him inviting you on a 7 day work trip as a first date is a giant red flag of boundary issues!
If you don’t hear from him again, just move on, don’t waste your time giving him a piece of your mind. If he reaches out right away upon return, keep it short. Tell him you’re not okay with someone you’re trying to get to know going completely silent for a week without warning. If you’re done with him as a result, also tell him you’re not interested in taking this any further. No need for you to say anything else.
And I’m not sure you met in person yet, it sounds like not? If you haven’t even met yet, you deserve better than something that starts off with nonsense, so doubly don’t waste your time or energy going off on him!
