He says he wants to move on but still talk to me,

My ex is in relationship with someone else. We both mutually broke up but as we work in the same company couldn’t really get rid of each other.
We tried not to be in touch but at the end we always used to talk. He loved me crazily (that’s what he used to say) and I still love him. I am not in the same country so it was a long distance relationship also. To make me feel that he still loves me he broke up with that girl 4 times in 4 months but at the end went again to her.
Recently just to make myself stay away from him I blocked him from everywhere. Whenever I used to see him talking to that girl I used to get anxiety attacks and so I just blocked him. He is now sending me emails saying that he does not want to come back in my life but he really doesn’t want to end it like this. He wants me to stay in touch with him because he feels my anxiety will be cured only if we both talk and share our things.
We were together for 6 years so it’s like a habitual thing to talk to each other. We share a really different and deep bond. It was just awesome to be with him.
But now I know that if I will talk to him I will again go into that same zone of depression. Should I stay away from him? Why is he so angry if I leave him? Now he’s free to move on and talk to anyone.
