He says we’re dating but we’ve never gone out…

I’m confused. So confused. I’ve been talking to this guy for a while now and he keeps telling me how beautiful I am and that he “wants me” and whatever. Which is fine. But he keeps saying things like “you’ve never dated a man like me” or “you’re one of the sexiest girls I have ever dated” but he’s never even take me out on a date. We’ve never met in person. Like did the definition of dating change in the last two years or am I just being led on? I mean he’s a very attractive man. He makes me laugh and we talk almost everyday and we’re very flirty towards each other but I’m just confused. I don’t mind if we just talk for now but I just feel I’m getting some mixed signals. I mean it could be a schedule conflict and he’s waiting for the right time or he could be cat fishing me. We’ve made Lapland before but we never follow through. And I don’t want to nag him because I don’t want to chase him away just some clarity would be nice! Thanks
