Hi !
So I started dating this guy about a month ago and he asks me out twice a week. He takes me to nice dinners and we have normal polite conversations. He goes on a lot of business trips and brings me back little souvenirs. He is on vacation now and went back home, but he texts me good morning and good night as well as texting me throughout the day.
So I can’t figure out why he won’t hug me! Is he too shy? Before he left for his trip I initiated a quick hug to wish him a safe trip and he gave a crazy fast pat on the back which i know is a bad sign…haha
So I think he is either looking for a dining friend
Is inexperienced so really shy (i doubt cause he is 29)

so let me know what you guys think!

Maybe he is shy…maybe he doesn’t like PDA. Maybe he’s a snake and knows that if he hugs you, he will squeeze the air out of you. LoL! I think you should just ask him :) Ask him how he feels about it, tell him how you feel about it. Poof. There ya go!

He sounds like a lovely man. Ask him if he’d like to sit closer or some such thing. He may need a gentle encouragement..

Some guys are not that comfortable with PDA but maybe the pat hug was that he was just nervous?

Usually guys that don’t hug do so because they are scared of people watching him. He might have another girl he is seeing and doesn’t want anyone he knows to see you guys

A month is a long time for no physical contact. I’m assuming you haven’t kissed either. This guy sounds like he’s just looking for a friend. Kissing, hand holding, hugs are what makes dates dates and not just hang outs with a guy friend.

Wow a mix of responses. Thanks! I guess it’s really hard to tell. I tried stepping back but he initiates texting and dates all the time but a month IS a long time without physical contact… gah so confused

He sounds as either shy or too conservative. What do you talk about on your dates? … Any romantic talk? Does he say he likes you? … Does he say you’re pretty? … Any guy would be dying to kiss you, maybe he doesn’t want to scare you.

Rose- no! No romantic talk at all. Just about our day and things we will do together in the future like go to an event. During his vacation back home he’s been sending me pictures of his family and nephews everyday

Well now that you initiated the first hug see if he will for the next one. Don’t keep initiating if he seems uncomfortable
