I said I Love You… he didn't say it back. Now what?

You said u said it without expectation. And your action of asking him not to say it back matched ur words. So, what is the problem here?

You know he is slow in progress and hesitate to express feelings, so it is only normal of him being panic and not reciprocating after you poured out that I love you. So you did the right thing asking him not to say it back by relieving him.

He is obviously capable of love. He is not capable of saying it. Really, ask yourself, how much does that mean to you? I was married to a man who could easily SAY he loved me, but in the long run really was not capable of love. Even consider, just because you are capable of saying the words, does that mean you are more capable of love than him? Maybe to him that means more than you even know.
