Why does he need to unfriend you? Some people like cutting all ties, some don’t feel the need to be as deliberate about it. If you don’t want to talk to him, don’t be passive and wait for some guy to make decisions for you. Take your own initiative and do what’s best for yourself. If you’re hoping he regrets his behavior, that doesn’t change anything. He doesn’t communicate well, you lash out, and there’s something off between you two that already broke the relationship. Take it as a sign that you can find someone more compatible one day whom this type of drama and mutual disrespect won’t happen with, instead of worrying about social media connections. It’s okay to be the one who lets go of a relationship that’s not working out.
