Hi there. I was wondering if any of you have purchased any of the advice programs (usually for $47). If so, are they helpful? Or is it just a bunch of stuff that you can get elsewhere?
I’m really struggling to connect with men in a way that puts me in a feminine position. My ex felt that I could be quite emasculating at times. It’s a long story, but I come from a childhood/background that has left me with abandonment issues. I’m working on a these with a therapist, but there’s only so much time and I don’t always want to focus my time with her on relationship stuff. I’m really working to be a positive force in a relationship and I want for a man to feel wonderful around me.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
celesteannvFrankly,
I think these are, if not scams.. rehashed material. I really suggest the Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus books. Most helpful communication insight I have learned other than from the great ladies here.MattyI put on a thread about this a couple of days ago. Some info on that but the consensus is that these systems are not all that helpful really. x
SerenaHi DLola,
I agree with Celeste. I have learned a lot from being on this site and the ladies I have rec’d advice from truly do know what they are talking about. It’s worked in my favour so far. :)
Other books to read:
-Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man
-The Rules (This has been mentioned here a few times)
-Evan Marc Katz (Online reading)
-Mathew Hussey (Online reading and youtube)
-Why Men Love B!tch3sI’m sure there are lots more…but that’s a start. :)
RoseTalking about Matthew Hussey, I just bought his book “get the guy”…. I’m about to read it. I hope it’s good.
SerenaHi Rose,
Would you mind sharing what you think, when you’ve finished reading…? I’ve not bought the book because I read his articles that come to my inbox and I check out his vids on Youtube.
HarleyI read it. I found it a lot like everything else. humdrum rehashed..The ONE thing I did take away from it… is that it’s Ok to approach guys and give them a hint you are interested
not so much in chase.. just give them a hint. I.e…A smile…wave your ginger at them to call them over. . If they don’t bite. my you smile and walk away….but look over a while later and smile again. He says guys are just ad insecure as usHarleyginger…finger.
SerenaHaha Harls, when I read wave your ginger…my mind went to something so not appropriate. :$
SerenaOh and thanks for sharing Harls, yes I believe that was some content in one of his Youtube vids about guys and it’s ok to smile, make eye contact to show your interest.
RoseSure, as soon as I finish with it I’ll let you know my thoughts.
redcurleysueBaggage Reclaim online is also helpful.
kimfLove Natalie Lue ;)
DetroitLolaWow! I took a nap and boom! So many responses.
Thanks so much. I pretty much figured there were other places to go and am so glad I didn’t spend that kind of money!
Rose, please do update us. I’d love to hear your take.
I do love Baggage Reclaim. Right now I’m reading Mr. Unavailable and the Fallback Girl. It’s been so helpful because choosing unavailable men has been serving my own unavailability for my whole life. I fall for a man’s potential- not what’s in front of me.
Also, the Men are from Mars, etc. books are in my list of things to read, too. *blushes* I have to admit that I’ve actually called one of their coaches before. It was really helpful.
Thanks again! You guys are way kind!
MistralGood practical advice can also be found online via Dr. Bob Grant’s books…especially “Women Men Adore and Never Want To Leave”. It’s a fantastic book, plus the good Doc really is a Psychologist with a Ph.D. in Psychology and a current licensed, practicing Family Therapist with a “brick and mortar” office in Atlanta, GA. He used to include a free 15 minute counseling session with the book price of $47. Not sure if he still does that though.
IvyI like Janet Ong Zimmerman’s site, she has articles on “Let yourself be wooed” and she talks a lot about femininity, I think her site is very different in some nice way from other relationship experts. It has a very soft, sweet, loving feel to it.
BeckyNone of this is helpful. I’m an attractive woman and have no problem getting guy’s attention. My issue is: connecting on a deeper level. I want a partner but all I get is sex crazed idiots who will say anything to get the short term high. My question is how to navigate this and find a real relationship (in my experience, wanting closeness dictates neediness, which is BEYOND annoying)…..
