I’ve never been on a date, never been kissed. I’m 27 years old.
I’ve been out for a meal with an old friend not long ago that I used to have a crush on and I am interested in him. I wouldn’t mind being friends with him although I find it hard to just be friends with a guy I’m attracted to (not just physically).
We didn’t talk a whole lot after that until he messaged me for my birthday. We chatted a bit and I asked him if he’d like to hang out. He said “yeah sure let me know when you’re back in town”.
Only I don’t flirt, I’m not comfortable flirting, it’s not natural to me. I don’t know what to talk about with guys because I’m so nervous when I do. I’m happy just being myself but at this point me being me is just me being a nervous mess, desperately trying to come up with conversation topics and not come across too weird lol
Any advice? Thought?
Hi Rose-Don’t “try to flirt”-you won’t be comfortable and it does not come naturally to you. Just be friendly, interested in what he says etc. Read “You had me at Hello” by Rachael Greenwald-she is a dating coach and has a couple good and fun to read books on making a good impression when dating or attracting someone. Highly recommended-was helpful to me.
Who said there’s an obligation to flirt with people you’re interested in? That’s nonsense.
Are you more comfortable with texting or calling compared to face to face? Or is it all the same?
It’s all about being comfortable. With a social circle or a guy that makes you feel safe and not pressured to do/say anything, you will gradually develop the confidence to do whatever you want and the nerves will fade away.
