Recurring dream

This is the second night in a row I’ve had a dream of getting back together with my ex and then I regret getting back with him and leave and im happy with myself.

I am relieved that we are broke up, he’s the one that broke up with me. It’s been about a month now since we’ve been broken up.we were together for 2 years and in the last year it was on and off, he’d be the one that would break up with me and then after 2 or 3 days he’d text me to get back together and want to work on things and I’d jump at the chance. But I know now if he texted wanting to get back I wouldn’t answer. But these dreams are draining. Why are my having dreams of getting back together with my ex and the regretting it and breaking up?
