Kinda feels like a silly question but I’m gonna ask it anyway.

Background is, my guy and I started dating in June this year. He has 100% pursued me, done everything ‘right’ as in he hasn’t ever left me wondering or hanging. I guess you can say it’s just been easy and free flowing.

We are in a committed relationship for the past 2 months (although neither of us have been dating others since we meet, that was just the first time we spoke about it)

He always plans dates, dinner, lunch, cinema, a show, days out etc so I decided I wanted to invite him to my place to cook him dinner this weekend. Then I remember I read something that you don’t cook for a man who’s not your husband.

Stupid question maybe, but thoughts please??

You shouldn’t read idiotic stuff like that.

Huh? I’ve never in my life heard of that and I’m over 50 lol.

My BF cooks for me more than I’ve cooked for him, only because he loves to cook and takes over the kitchen haha. He however has been super thankful and appreciative when I have cooked for him, so I would say its a big heck NO—its perfectly fine to cook for your man; if anything it will improve your relationship if he knows your a great cook too! Show off them skills :o)

I suspect this must be the same kind of advice as “you don’t move in with a man until you’re engaged”, and then the explanation goes that if you do, then the man is getting “everything” (whatever that means) “for free” (whatever that means.. because after you’re engaged or married he suddenly pays for it? what is the currency of that payment, the fact that he is tied down to you? and why do you need to by paid, with any currency, for doing something out of love?! smh) All of this I call BS. I don’t really cook for my boyfriend, but that’s just because I’m not a good cook. If you are and if you feel like doing something nice for a great guy that you are lucky to be dating, then of course, go for it!

My bouyfriend usually cooks because he enjoys it more than i do, but i have cooked for him plenty of times.

When you’re dating someone, you do nice things for each other to show that you care about each other. It sounds like this guy has been treating you really well. Why would you question a nice gesture like cooking him dinner? Don’t overthink it. Cook for him if you want to.
