This question has been on my mind lately, especially with things getting serious between my partner and I:
How long did you wait until your partner met extended family and/or extended family that lives out of town?
Edit: out of town could mean multiple hours or multiple states away.
1 year…
With covid happening, we did video introductions until it was safe enough to meet in person several months later. Video happened about 5 months in, which was a couple months after getting official seriously. But we’re also not so young meaning we’re both in a life stage where we’re certain of getting serious and where things are going for us. In the past, it was closer to a year unless family members happened to be in town visiting or vice-versa anyway. In all situations, it felt comfortable to meet after whatever the amount of time was that had passed (if it wasn’t mutually comfortable yet, we waited longer).
Ok, I see. I think the “waiting until everyone is comfortable” is a good thing to keep in mind. It’s super common sense but I’m not sure everyone thinks of it.
