Texting happy birthday to a guy I dumped

After having had my heart brutally broken the past months I have done a lot of thinking. A guy I was dating in the Springm whom I dumped because at the time I was super stressed with other things (and probably just not super interested) is suddenly hauting my mind. He has his birthday coming up the following week.
I kind of want to write happy birthday and see his reaction, but I also don’t want to be a coward. He really liked me and was pretty down that I dumped him.
Is it just messing with him ? I don’t kno myself if I am just ego-tripping or actually want to talk to him again.
I am confused if it was just because he was very nice to me and loving and I miss that …? Especially after having tasted the sourness of someone rejecting me

I wouldn’t. It sounds like you are down because you were dumped and your heart was broken so now you are looking for an ego stroke for a guy who wasn’t good enough for you just a few months ago. Leave him alone and let him move on.

I agree with Kaye. Don’t play with his emotions, leave him alone.

You yourself say you were not super interested in the guy. You dumped him & hurt him. Now you’ve been dumped and are hurting, so you want someone to be nice & loving towards you, which is the only reason you thought of reaching out to him. But it would just be jerking him around, and would be unfair to him.
